在回歸時(shí)，老漁夫一再遭到了鯊魚(yú)的襲擊，他用盡了所有的辦法來(lái)對(duì)付這條鯊魚(yú)。回到港灣時(shí)，只剩魚(yú)頭魚(yú)尾和一根骨頭。盡管魚(yú)肉已經(jīng)被鯊魚(yú)吃完了，但他的意志并沒(méi)有消失。
