在英語的學習過程中，分別有聽說讀寫四大技能，其中聽和讀是輸入，而說和寫屬于輸出。沒有大量的輸入，是不會有靈活的"輸出"的。因此從初一年級開始，同學們就應該扎扎實實，一步一個腳印地訓練的自己聽說讀寫基本技能，為寫作打下扎實的基礎。
一、聽力輔導
初一英語作文輔導老師在進行聽力教學時，可引導學生邊聽邊記。
1、記關鍵詞，如時間、地點、人物、事件等。
2、記關鍵短語，主題句等。
3、聽完后說出故事梗概，不要很長，兩三句即可。這樣既訓練了聽力，也進行了寫作的輔助訓練。
二、加強對話訓練
教師可根據學生的實際情況，分析教材內容，在進行對話訓練時找準切入點，引導學生完成由說到寫的自然過渡。例如，在第一單元的采訪這一環節時，要求學生在小組內邊問問題邊做筆記，然后把采訪的結果報告給全班同學，這樣在口語訓練的同時也進行了寫作訓練。
三、充分準備，打好基礎。

四、認真審題，明確要求

五、遣詞造句、表達規范
英語作文用詞要恰當，不可逐句把提示翻譯成英語。寫作時，應盡量選用你最熟悉、最有把握的詞和句型來表達思想。如果有些單詞不會些，有些句型不會表達，可以設法繞開，用熟悉的同義詞、同義短語或同義句來代替。要學會善于運用適當的關聯詞，如and，or，but，so，because，since等，以使初一英語作文行文邏輯緊密，自然流暢。
六、認真撰寫，卷面整潔
