　　世界上所有宗教和文化普遍遵守的一條準則就是尊敬老人。在我看來，老年人為我們的社會做出了貢獻，提供給我們智慧和指導，得到尊敬理所應當，受之無愧。

　　我們從自己的父母親和祖父母那兒繼承了這個世界。如果不是過去幾代人，包括我們當中的老年人的辛勤工作，我們今天所享有的現代社會是完全不可能存在的。老年人努力工作，供養家人、社會以及年輕的后代。他們中有些人曾為我們今天慶祝的自由而戰;有些人曾為給后代創造更好的生活和工作環境而奮斗。作為享受他們勞動成果的后來人，我們理所當然應該尊重他們。

　　一生中見證了無數時間興衰的前輩們，同樣也是智慧和指引的無價的來源：實際上他們就是活的`歷史。同祖父母的一次對話能夠聽比閱讀百科全書或教科書所獲取的關于過去的更有意義的理解。老年人的智慧和經驗也使他們成為幾代家庭的支柱。

Our elders have knowledge and experience that we are yetto attain, and have lived in a world that we will never know. Accordingly, I believe that we owe them our gratitude, love and respect.
