　　I’m writing to tell you about our discussion on setting off fireworks.We discussed the advantages and disadvantages of setting off fireworks during the festivals,especially in the Spring Festival.25 girls and 25 boys attended the discussion.As a result,50% of them believe that setting fireworks certainly adds pleasure and joy to the festival; therefore,it is a wonderful tradition.And at the same time,we must protect our traditional holidays.But another 40% students argue that setting fireworks causes air and noise pollution,and what’s worse,it sometimes causes terrible accidents to us and to our property.The other 10% have never thought about it or don’t care a bit.

　　In my opinion,setting fireworks should be limited to certain areas and time.

　　I don’t like setting off fireworks at random at any time and any places,because it is noisy and dangerous to kids.I think the best way is the government or some related organization setting off fireworks at certain place at certain time.

　　Thus it can avoid the above disadvantages.

　　As has been reported in the newspapers,the sale of firecrackers and fireworks in Beijing was reduced by 52% this Spring Festival compared with last year.This shows that people have begun to change their ideas about celebration.

　　Firecrackers and fireworks used to be one of the main causes of air pollution and the most important cause of injury during the Spring Festival.Now with fewer firecrackers and fireworks,we see a much clearer sky and many fewer people with injuries,which hasresulted in a much happier festival atmosphere both outside in the street and inside at home.So we can predict that we will see a better environment next year.

　　For recent years,most cities in China are not allowed to light fireworks and crackers during New Year.Some people think this is good for them to get away from noise.Some people,however,don’t think this kind of action is acceptable.For me,I believe fireworks and crackers should be banned.Reasons are listed below.

　　Firstly,fireworks and crackers can cause sound pollution.It is known to all that when fireworks and crackers are set off; they will make great sound which will disturb other people who want to have a rest.Especially at New Year’s Eve,we can’t go to sleep because there is too much noise outside.

　　Secondly,fireworks and crackers will cause air pollution.When firework is set off,it will produce lots of sulfur dioxide which is harmful to our environment.

　　Thirdly,fireworks and crackers can cause damage.Fireworks and crackers are very easy to explosive.When people light them,some accident will happen.It is happened quite often that some people get hurt by lighting it.

　　All in all,fireworks and crackers do lots of harm to people so we shouldn’t set off fireworks and crackers.On the contrary,we can celebrate our holiday by other ways instead of setting off firework.

　　although many cities have enforced a ban on fireworks,i personally disapprove of this policy.it is true that burning fireworks wastes money.but isn’t much more wasted on extravagant eating? it is true that firecrackers cause noise and air pollution.but is it a very big problem in an already heavily polluted society? it is true that fireworks cause fires.but it is not true that fireworks inevitably cause fires.the question is not to ban or not to ban.the question is to have some restrictions and better management.a popular tradition of an ancient culture shouldn’t be thrown away overnight.

　　On the other hand,there are many people who say that frecrackers should be banne They point out that firecrackers are responsible for fires which destroy property,and for i juries suffered both by the people who set them off and by inncent bystanders.They al say that firecrackers are a waste of money and resources.

　　My own point of view is that we should preserve the old custom of letting off firecracers,while at the same time rmaking them harmless: We can do this by banning firecrack from public places.In addition,we should restrict the setting off of firecrackers to festivdays.
