英語應用文寫作之推薦信推薦信的寫作
（The Writing of Letters of Recommendation）
在聯系到國外學習或就業的過程中，往往需要以往的同事、上司或老師寫一封推薦信。推薦信寫得好壞意義重大，因為它關系到對被推薦人人品、能力及知識各個方面的評價。因此，在推薦信的寫作中，首先需要對該信的用途加以了解，以便確定被推薦人是否適合這一職位或是否適合進入某一專業攻讀學位或從事研究工作。推薦信應包括以下內容：
① 被推薦人全名；
② 推薦人與被推薦人認識時間的長短及其關系,如：(I have been Mr. Bowman’s immediate supervisor for the past six years.) ;
③ 被推薦人的學識及其優秀的品質（最好有具體的`事例加以證明）；
④ 被推薦人所申請的學校或機構對其感興趣的理由，總結對被推薦人的信心，并主動提出如有必要的話，可以提供更多的有關被推薦人的資料。
在推薦信的寫作中，應注意以下幾點：
1）推薦信一定要寫得具體，可以用具體的事例說明被推薦人的長處。
2）即便被推薦人有許多優點，推薦信也應當集中在兩三個方面。
3）在推薦信中，不要使用諸如下面這樣的話： “I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this scholarship.” 。因為，推薦人只需要提供證明資料，并不需要做出任何決定。

I am much more concerned about his financial situation, and I believe that once you see what caliber of student and scientist Steve Monk is, you will find some way of dealing with his financial needs.
